Plans, Billing & Limits

Understand plans, scan credits, top-ups, usage limits, upgrades, and cancellations.

This page explains how plans work, what limits apply, and what happens when you reach them.

_Notes: The exact numbers and plan names here should be updated to match your real pricing and quotas._

Plan Types

Depending on how your account is configured, you may see:

  • Free plan

Limited scans and brands, ideal for trying out the product.

  • Trial

Time-limited access to a higher tier so you can test more features.

  • Paid plans

One or more tiers (e.g., Starter, Pro, Agency) with increasing limits.

Your current plan is visible in your account or billing section.

Scan Credits (Top-Ups)

In addition to your plan, you can buy scan credit packs for extra flexibility.

  • Plan scans and purchased credits work together.
  • Credits are useful when you need more fresh scans before your normal plan reset.
  • Your account shows:
  • Remaining included scans from your plan
  • Purchased credit wallet balance
  • Recent credit transactions (purchases and usage)

How Consumption Works

For authenticated scans, usage is applied in this order:

  1. Plan-included scans
  2. Purchased scan credits

If a scan can be served from recent cached/reused results, it may not consume additional credits.

Low Credit Alerts

When your purchased scan credit balance goes low, the app will warn you (typically below 25% threshold) so you can top up before scans are interrupted.

What Your Plan Controls

Plans affect a few key limits:

  • Number of brands – How many brands you can create.
  • Domains per brand – How many domains you can attach to each brand.
  • Scans per day / month – How many page scans or crawls you can run.
  • Chat queries per day – How many Compass AI chat requests a brand can serve.
  • MagnetHub resources – How many resources can be active and how download usage is metered.
  • Crawl depth / pages per crawl – How big your site audits can be.
  • Advanced features – Access to features like keyword gaps, topic suggestions, or extra integrations.

When you approach a limit, we’ll show a warning where possible.

Free Scans and Rate Limits

Even without a paid plan, you may have access to free scans. These are rate-limited to prevent abuse and keep the service fast for everyone.

Free scan limits commonly include:

  • A maximum number of scans per day per IP.
  • A maximum number of scans per day for the same URL.
  • Limits on depth or features compared to full scans.

If you hit these limits, you may:

  • See an error or message explaining that you’ve reached the daily cap.
  • Be asked to wait until the next day.
  • Be prompted to sign in or upgrade to a plan for more usage.

Upgrading Your Plan

To get higher limits or additional features:

  1. Go to your Account or Billing section.
  2. Review the available plans and what each includes.
  3. Choose a plan and click “Upgrade”.
  4. Provide or confirm your payment details.
  5. Complete the checkout flow.

After a successful upgrade:

  • Your new limits apply immediately or from your next billing cycle (depending on how billing is configured).
  • You may gain access to additional features in the UI.

Downgrading or Cancelling

You can usually manage your subscription from the same billing area:

  • Downgrade – Move to a lower-tier plan with reduced limits.
  • Cancel – End your subscription at the end of the current cycle.

Before downgrading, consider:

  • Whether your current number of brands, domains, and scans will fit under the new plan.
  • What features you may lose.

We’ll try to warn you if your current usage exceeds what the lower plan supports.

What Happens When You Hit Limits

If you hit a limit on your current plan, you may experience:

  • Blocked scans – New scans or crawls may not start.
  • Blocked chat responses – If daily chat limit is reached or usage capacity is exhausted.
  • Blocked MagnetHub downloads – If usage capacity is unavailable at download time.
  • Messages or banners – Explaining which limit was reached.
  • Upgrade prompts – Offering a higher plan with more capacity.
  • Top-up prompts – Offering scan credit packs when you need additional scans quickly.

Some limits reset periodically (e.g., daily or monthly); others are tied to your plan level and only change when you switch plans.

If both your included plan scans and purchased scan credits are exhausted, new authenticated scans will be blocked until you top up or your included quota resets.

Billing FAQs

These details depend on how your billing is set up, but typical questions include:

  • How often am I billed (monthly, yearly)?
  • Can I change plans mid-cycle?
  • Will I receive invoices/receipts by email?
  • Do you offer refunds or prorated adjustments?

Refer to your pricing page or terms for exact policies. If something looks wrong with your billing or limits, contact support with your account email and a brief description of the issue.
